Welcome!
Green Waste Collections
at the Council Offices, New Yatt Road. 3rd Saturday each month January to November: We need people to come along to help load or chat to newcomers and let them know what we do as well as collect contact details so we can keep in touch. The Council will only keep going as long as we have people there to help.
Waste action group helpers are offered training to help learn more about recycling, waste etc. You can also have training in being a treasurer, secretary or chair. Maybe you would like to write our newsletter, twice a year, or design posters – you can get training in both these things to improve your skills. We had the chance to visit a composting plant and incinerator this year.
Most people hear about our activities through leaflets they are given or find in their letter box. Help more people find out about us by publicising this website!
Swap shop
We hope to run another swap shop in April at the Green Fair.
Do save things for the event – books, CDs, ornaments, cycle helmets, toys, clothes for children under 7 (but not any other clothes) and small items that one person can carry. Bring a picture or description of any large or electrical items, and your phone number.
Recycling
Do you wonder just which plastic can go into the recycling box or whether to put jam jar lids in the bin or the box?
It seems that many people don’t realise all the things we can recycle.
If you would like to know more and maybe become a recycling champion to advise neighbours then let us know.
